RYA Training course for RYA Level 1, RYA Level 2

A two-day course involving detailed instruction on and off the water to get you started sailing at Thornton Steward Sailing Club.   The course is designed to introduce you to all aspects of dinghy sailing and for advanced techniques for those progressing towards RYA level 2 attainment and includes:

Preparing for sailing

Rigging and launching the boat

Familiarisation with the controls

How to sail in all directions, awareness of launching and recovering

Turning the back or front of the boat through the wind.

Level 1, on completion, you should be able to sail round a triangular course with a level of supervision.

Level 2 as appropriate

Course run by qualified RYA Instructors.

Launching and recovering the boat in different circumstances, stopping, reducing sail, recovering a man overboard.
